REV. VATCHE EKMEKJIAN
(Senior PASTOR)
I was born and raised in Aleppo, Syria in a Christian family that cherished and lived the values and teachings of the Bible. Upon my graduation from Karen Eppe Armenian High School, I attended Haigazian University in Beirut and majored in Psychology. I received my Masters of Divinity from the Near East School of Theology (NEST) in 1997.
My first pastoral ministry field was the Armenian Evangelical Churches in Kessab and Kaladouran (1997-2002). I’ve also served as Coordinator to the Junior High and College Youth Ministry of the Armenian Evangelical Churches of Syria. In 2004, I assumed the pastoral position of the Armenian Evangelical Church of the Martyrs', Aleppo. In 2010, I moved to Southern California and assumed the Senior Pastor position at Immanuel Armenian Congregational Church of Downey.
In 2017, I completed my second Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University, and as an AMFT I continue to use my counseling skills to help families and couples attain meaningful relationships. As a Minister of the Word of God, I have a passion for the Great Commission of preaching the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.
My wife Lena (BA, Christian Education) and I live in Pasadena and are blessed with three children, Ari, Hrag, and Narod.

rev. Joseph Matossian
(Pastor Emeritus)
I have had the honor, in the past, of serving the Armenian Brotherhood Bible Church of Pasadena for 23 years (1971-1994). After serving other churches and the Armenian Evangelical Union, the board asked me to serve the church again on an interim basis. It is a great privilege to do so.
I am a graduate of Azusa Pacific University and the California School of Theology. In addition to my 23 years of service at ABBC, I have been an assistant minister of the Armenian Evangelical Brethren Church, youth minister at the United Armenian Congregational Church (Hollywood), Senior Pastor of Immanuel Armenian Congregational Church (Downey), and I served for a decade as Minister to the Armenian Evangelical Union of North America (AEUNA).
Together with my wife (Suzie) of 50 years, we have four grown sons, four wonderful daughters-in-law, and seven grandchildren with one more on the way. God has been faithful. -
